Meet the team

Garry Wellstead - Proprietor/Operator and occasional prankster
We think Garry has probably been diving since he was knee-high to a grasshopper. He’s been the running South Coast Diving Supplies for almost too long to remember. His wealth of experience and knowledge are second-to-none, which is a huge bonus for his students whether he’s teaching novice divers, budding instructors, first aid or recreational skippers tickets. His love for good coffee is almost bigger than his love of diving.

Jennifer Wellstead - Co- Proprietor
Jennifer joined Garry on the adventure to run South Coast Diving Supplies. She’s involved with the shop on a daily basis but enjoys hanging out with the family, including the lovely grandkids.

Amy WellsteadThe person all staff are nice to, even nicer than they are to Garry and Jen
Amy has been part of South Coast Diving Supplies since her folks took over the business. She keeps the administration and accounts side of the business moving. Like Karina, Amy loves the smell of neoprene, so a dive shop is a great place to work!

Eddie Rist  SSI Dive Control Specialist Instructor #62730
Born in Germany, Eddie emigrated to Australia in 2007, scuba & first aid instructor since 2010. He fell in love with the South West and its waters while travelling in 2005. His favourite dive sites in the world are here: the Cables, HMAS Perth, Blues Canyon, Cheynes III, Seal Cove, and all the other dive sites around the islands. He loves to dive and to share his experience by guiding and teaching people; and he loves to work with challenged people and kids.

Karl LehmannSkipper, SSI Dive Control Instructor, Equipment Servicer
Salty sea dog isn’t a bad description for Karl. He’s lively and fun, and always happy to give you tips on diving and the sites around Albany. He has years of experience as a skipper and instructor in Albany waters. We forgiven him for hailing from Victoria, but only just because he’s not in to AFL.

Ben BunneyDive Leader
Born and bred in Albany, Ben first started diving in 1999. It was a natural step for someone who started snorkelling as soon as his feet were big enough for a pair of fins. He loves the huge variety of fish and coral on offer in the region and Bluey's Canyon is one of his favourite dive sites. He's also a keen underwater photographer.

Karina 'Mitch' Mitchell - Skipper, Dive Con, Saltwater Sister
Karina has been around the ocean her whole life. She loves diving, surfing and camping. She's been a skipper for over ten years spending summers in Albany and winter at Coral Bay. The last few years have been a bit of a change Karina has had two boys who keep her busy, but she's still helping us out whenever she can.
